
Homicide detectives in Nashville are actively following leads in the fatal noon shooting of Marcus Caruthers, 33, outside a local market on Jefferson Street. As reported by the Nashville Police Department, the incident appears to have been sparked by an altercation that occurred within Kings Market, between a male suspect and a female, which then escalated in the parking lot.
After intervening in the parking lot dispute, Caruthers was shot by the suspect, armed with a handgun, having taken the argument outside the store. According to a statement obtained by the Nashville Police Department, the victim was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
The police are currently reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews to piece together the events that led to the shooting. The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed, but the authorities are pursuing all available avenues to apprehend the individual responsible for Caruthers's death.
