British pop sensation Olivia Dean is set to grace San Francisco with her melodic charms at the Warfield on August 3, as part of a bigger North American tour. The London-raised singer, known for her soft pop tunes, has come a long way from the tears shed on the elementary school stage. At 26, Dean has blossomed into a formidable live performer with a dedicated fanbase, ready to showcase her growth since her debut EP "OK Love You Bye," released in 2019. As documented by the San Francisco Chronicle, her musical journey has been one from timid beginnings to an artist who can now command a show with ease.
Recently, Dean released "Lady Lady," a soulful single set to appear on her upcoming second album, "The Art Of Loving," announced for release on September 26 via Capitol Records. This single, a follow-up to the chart-climbing "Nice To Each Other," digs deep into themes of femininity and change. Dean describes the song with the words: “‘Lady Lady’ is a song about the universe, mother nature and accepting and trusting in the plan that she has for you. It’s about the feeling of having to change just as you’re getting used to a version of yourself. This song reminds me of the power we hold as women, I think it feels like peace,” she told Billboard. The track joins a discography that earned her a spot on the Mercury Prize shortlist and several BRIT Award nominations with her 2023 album "Messy."
Aside from her solo work, Dean has recently collaborated with Sam Fender on a new version of his track "Rein Me In," which they performed at the London Stadium, adding another layer to her evolving musical persona. The official live footage of their performance has been shared, catering to fans’ appetite for unique renditions and collaborative efforts. Dean’s artistry seems to be in a state of perpetual ascent, with tour stops including revered venues from Brooklyn’s Paramount Theatre to Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, proving her international appeal.
Leading up to the tour, Dean had reached out to fans on Instagram, offering an early shot at tickets through a pre-sale promotion. “hello world! we’re coming back across the pond 🇺🇸🇨🇦 if you’re signed up on laylo you will receive a pre-sale password at 6am PT / 9am ET 13th may (sign-up link in stories) pre-sale starts at 10am local time on tuesday 13th general sale starts 10am on thursday 15th may see you in the summertime :)," read the post from @oliviadeano.
