Fort Lauderdale residents and anyone planning to navigate the downtown area tonight: City crews will begin repairing a leaking valve on a 16-inch water main along West Broward Boulevard at NW/SW 1st Avenue, starting at 9 p.m. Work is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. tomorrow, weather permitting. Information about the repair was released in a city statement.
Drivers in downtown Fort Lauderdale should expect temporary traffic changes tonight due to water main repairs. Two westbound lanes of West Broward Boulevard will be closed between NE/SE 3rd Avenue and NW/SW 2nd Avenue, along with the westbound left-turn lane onto southbound SW 1st Avenue. Northbound traffic on SW 1st Avenue will be limited to right turns onto eastbound West Broward Boulevard. Minor delays are possible, and motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution in the area to ensure safety for both drivers and crews.
