Heads up, Peoria residents: construction fencing is sprouting around the City Hall, signaling the start of a major revamp project slated for the iconic building's front lawn and Council Chamber. With the makeover process kicking off in mid-August, Peoria braces for a transformation that's set to wrap by Spring 2026. This facelift means you'll need to reroute your visits. Parking's shifted to the East Parking Garage or the nearby short-term lot, and you'll enter through the Southeast door, where signage will beckon guests to the front desk from Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
For those keen on local governance, take note: all City Council and Planning and Zoning meetings are making a temporary migration to the Peoria Public Safety Administration Building at 8351 W. Cinnabar Avenue, nestled in the Peoria Room on the 2nd floor. With the new digs comes a new checklist—arrive with time to spare for parking and elevator or ramp navigation. The next City Council Meeting convenes August 5, at 6 p.m., and the Planning and Zoning Commission will gather July 17, at 6 p.m., with an update outlined on the City of Peoria website.
For those who relish tuning into the democratic process from the comfort of their living room, fret not. The City Council has ensured that every meeting will be live across Cox Channel 11, Facebook, and YouTube.
