The City of Pompano Beach is once again gearing up for its environmental tradition — the Free Tree Giveaway. Scheduled for two Saturdays, July 12 and July 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event promises to add a touch of green to local landscapes and support the city’s green initiatives. Taking place at the City Nursery, located at 1190 NE 3rd Avenue, residents will have the opportunity to collect up to two trees per household, according to the City of Pompano Beach.
A showcase of commitment to sustainability, the giveaway is part of a long-standing effort that spans over two decades, designed to inspire personal investment in the urban canopy and foster a sense of communal stewardship. Residents planning to get their hands on these leafy gifts will need to provide proof of residency within City limits, such as a driver's license or a City of Pompano Beach water bill.
The tree varieties available for adoption include the likes of the Paradise Tree, Brazilian Beauty Leaf, Loquat, Pink Tabebuia, Cassia, Bottlebrush Tree, Christmas Palm, and Foxtail Palm. Additionally, the lucky recipients will receive a planting guide, ensuring these botanical newcomers thrive in their new plots. "Supplies are limited, so early arrival is recommended," reads a notice from a recent press release by the City of Pompano Beach, pointing towards the popularity of this verdant event.
