The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has announced detours for northbound traffic on NE 60th Avenue starting July 28 as part of the city’s ongoing sidewalk improvement project. The detour directs traffic to NE 47th or NE 67th Avenues to access NE Halsey Street. This marks the second phase of the project, which now shifts construction focus to the east side of the avenue.
Southbound traffic on NE 60th Avenue will remain open during construction, according to the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), which has provided alternate routes for drivers. TriMet’s Line 71 bus will be detoured, resulting in potential delays. Several stops will be temporarily closed, including the 60th Avenue MAX Station and stops at NE 60th & Hassalo and NE Halsey & 57th. Riders seeking MAX access can transfer to Line 77 at NE Halsey & 42nd to reach the Hollywood Transit Center.
Beginning August 4, construction will expand to the intersection of NE 60th Avenue and NE Halsey Street. All vehicle lanes will remain open, and pedestrian access will be maintained during this phase of the project.
PBOT and contractor Interlaken, Inc. are continuing work on the ongoing sidewalk improvement project, which aims to enhance pedestrian safety and the overall appearance of the neighborhood. Project updates and detailed information are available on the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s official project webpage.
