According to Salt Lake City Fire Department's Jepperson, "Fortunately, weather conditions have cooled down a little bit, and it wasn’t as fast-moving as it could have been." The vicinity, including Ensign Vista Drive, was temporarily closed off for safety reasons, and traffic was managed by local police to aid in the containment efforts, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Although the official cause of the Ensign Peak fire is still under investigation, Wild from the Salt Lake City Fire Department imparted a cautionary note to visitors: “It’s just kindling, and it will start a fire - and the fire department will have to be back up, trying to put it out,” he told FOX13.
