Attending to the needs of our four-legged residents, Rockdale County Animal Services has just unfurled an offer for free dog spay services, available throughout the month of August. According to a recent announcement, this initiative is designed to target a total of 100 female dogs and is made possible by the largess of a grant from the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
For those interested in snagging one of the limited spots, Rockdale County residents must hustle over in person to Rockdale County Animal Services on 1506 Rockbridge Road NW, Conyers, GA. The first-come, first-served registration events are scheduled for Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27 from 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, with additional opportunities on Monday, July 28 and Tuesday, July 29 at varied times. However, residents should be aware; this program is open only to those who can furnish a valid photo ID and a current utility bill confirming their habitation within Rockdale County.
Dogs up for the procedure need to have their rabies shots up to date. In the instance they don't, pet owners can obtain the vaccination during the surgery for an additional $15 fee—far below the usual cost associated with such a vital inoculation. The effort signals the county's devotion to encouraging responsible pet ownership and its aim to mitigate the community's stray animal dilemma.
Partnered with Budget Vet, the county's offer emphasizes a broader initiative of the county to refine the landscape of animal care and control in the region. It's a testament to their ongoing work to curb the proliferation of strays, a subject of significant concern for communities alike. Be advised, the free spay appointments are capped at a century mark—once they're snapped up, no further registrations will be entertained and the remaining sign-up sessions will be dismissed outright. Interested parties should hence act posthaste to ensure their place in this commendable program.
