In San Marcos, a routine traffic stop turned into a significant firearms arrest when deputies uncovered a ghost gun inside a vehicle. The stop occurred yesterday, just after 3 PM, near Nordahl Road and Montiel Road. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, deputies initiated the stop for a vehicle code violation. They soon became aware of a high-capacity magazine in plain sight within the car.
Further investigation allowed deputies to discover a loaded assault rifle without a serial number, along with an additional fully loaded pistol. The complete search of the vehicle also yielded illegal narcotics and a substantial sum of cash. The driver, identified as William Linares, born January 3, 1996, is now facing felony charges that include carrying a loaded weapon in a public area and possession of an unserialized firearm, as well as drug-related charges.
