Seven individuals were hospitalized following a small plane crash in Palm Beach County yesterday afternoon. According to reports from WPBF, the incident involved an Orlican M8 Eagle, a single-engine plane, which experienced a collision with a vehicle after making contact with a tree.
As per ABC News, the crash occurred around 4:45 p.m. near a neighborhood in Lake Worth, Florida. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that two people on board the plane were rushed to Palm Beach County Trauma Center under Trauma Alert criteria, while the five occupants of the car—an one adult and four children—were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Neighbor June Bingham observed the immediate aftermath of the incident, telling Local 10, “One had a cut on his head, the other person was sitting there just fine and they were being loaded into the ambulance and taken away." Another resident, Mary Adam de Villiers, remarked on the potential severity of the crash, saying, "Lucky that the plane didn't end up in the water. Or since it's on the park path, nobody was walking in that area," as noted by WPBF.
The aircraft sustained "extreme damage" to the nose, but fortunately, there was no fire or significant fuel leak. The vehicle involved in the crash had only minor damage to its roof. FlightRadar24 data suggests the plane went down shortly after takeoff. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are both investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident.
