Spirit Airlines is set to launch new flights that will provide a quicker alternative to driving to the Southernmost Point. Starting November 6, the budget-friendly carrier will offer nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale International Airport and Key West International Airport four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. According to Local 10, this service is set to decidedly increase to daily flights starting December 18, providing ample opportunities for a tropical getaway.

Not only will these flights provide a convenient and affordable alternative to driving, but they will also connect passengers to Spirit's expansive network, making it simpler to reach Key West from major cities such as Atlanta, Boston, and New York City. "Key West is a one-of-a-kind beach destination, and now travelers can easily access this island paradise and enjoy Spirit's elevated Guest experience along the way," said John Kirby, Spirit Airlines' Vice President of Network Planning, in a statement obtained from Spirit Airlines' website.

Spirit is launching the new service with introductory one-way fares starting at $79, appealing to budget-conscious travelers. However, the deal requires a 21-day advance purchase and is only valid for trips booked through November 19, for travel through December 17. Blackout dates apply from November 20 to December 2.

Moreover, this expansion into Key West represents the airline's eighth destination within the Sunshine State, joining others such as Miami, Tampa, and Orlando. Richard Strickland, Executive Director of Airports at Key West International Airport, heralded Spirit's entrance into the local market. "Spirit Airlines entering the Key West market this November is fantastic news for our passengers near and far. We welcome this addition to our selection of carriers and greatly anticipate access to Spirit's expansive network of destinations," he told Spirit Airlines.

With recent accolades like Best Airline Overall for 2025 from WalletHub and lauded by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) as a 2025 Four Star Low Cost Carrier, Spirit seems to firmly be charting a course that balances affordability with enhanced customer experience.
