A St. Petersburg man is facing multiple charges after authorities found the remains of three pets in his home, according to local police. Keith Robertson was arrested last Saturday on four counts of animal cruelty following a welfare check by St. Petersburg police and Pinellas County Animal Services at his residence.

The authorities were called to the man's home at 164 44th Ave. NE after receiving complaints from neighbors about possible neglect of animals. What they encountered inside was a grim scene — two cats and a dog, deceased and in advanced stages of decomposition. Additionally, a third cat was discovered alive but in a seriously neglected state, starved and ridden with fleas. The St. Petersburg Police Department reported the findings on their official website.

Pinellas County Animal Services took the surviving cat into their custody to provide the necessary medical treatment, as it was the only one found still breathing but suffering severely. The condition of the rescued cat is set to be monitored, and it will receive care to hopefully return to a healthier state.
