Early Sunday morning, tragedy struck on Highway 111 in West Valley when a fatal three-vehicle crash claimed the life of one individual and left several others injured; amidst the chaos, a 20-year-old identified as Segovia allegedly fled the fatal scene. According to KUTV, witnesses informed police that after the crash, several individuals had escaped from the site, leaving behind a scene of devastation and unanswered questions.
Later, however, Segovia posed as an innocent bystander, reportedly telling officers he happened upon the wreckage while walking nearby, even though he was involved in the atrocious accident, he then provided a false witness statement to the authorities under a fictitious name. As per the police booking affidavit referenced by KSL, this act of deception unwound when investigators pieced together the true narrative that placed Segovia not as a mere observer but as a key participant in the events leading to the crash.
Segovia's attempt to elude accountability took a decisive turn when law enforcement officials, connecting the dots through an investigative process, identified him as one of the drivers involved in the incident leading to the fatality. KUTV noted that Segovia was arrested following this discovery and is now facing stern charges as he awaits a pretrial hearing.
