
A 17-year-old male has been charged with a felony for aggravated vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle in Chicago, local authorities reported. The Chicago Police Department apprehended the teenager on July 17, 2025, after he allegedly carjacked a 45-year-old man at gunpoint earlier in the day, according to a press release from the police department.
The juvenile, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age, was identified and taken into custody in the 8800 block of S. Normal Ave., around 7:19 p.m. The incident occurred two hours prior, in the 1400 block of S. Prairie Ave. in Chicago's 1st District. The offender faces one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm and one count of receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen vehicle.
