Indie-pop enthusiasts have reason to rejoice as The Format announces their long-awaited reunion. The Arizona-based band is gearing up for a three-show tour this fall, including a notable performance on September 27 at the Arizona State Fair. This event marks a significant comeback for The Format, who had to cancel their previous reunion shows due to the pandemic.

According to ABC15, the show at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix will kickstart the tour, followed by performances in New York City on September 30 and in Los Angeles on October 10. Not just the main act, The Format has planned something extra for the fans: a curated "festival-style outdoor stage" featuring local artists like Sydney Sprague, Astrologer, JPW, and Dad Weed, delivering performances before, and after the main event.

Phoenix New Times reported The Format's intent to offer their fans an inclusive experience. "With that debacle in mind, we've decided to play much larger (and scarier) venues so that hopefully everyone gets a chance to come see us play," Nate Ruess explained, emphasizing their goal to accommodate more fans.

Adding to the anticipation, the band shared their personal connection to the fairgrounds. "remember when we used to go to the Arizona State Fair as kids to see some of our favorite bands in the 90s?… I know it sounds crazy, but we should play that … I still think it sounds crazy, but we are gonna do that anyway…AND as our first show back in like 20 years. So here goes nothing!" Ruess told Phoenix New Times.

Tickets for the Phoenix show are priced starting at $25, with pre-sale opportunities beginning on July 16 and general sale opening on July 18 at noon local time. Fans eager for the presale access or additional information can visit the band's official website for details.
