Three individuals face serious charges after the kidnapping of a 2-year-old girl in Chicago, as reported by the Chicago Police Department. Angelique Mobley, 22, of the 6500 block of S. Wolcott Ave., has been charged with one felony count each of kidnapping, residential burglary, and child abduction concealment. Lamon Weathers, 33, from the 3100 block of W. Marquette Rd., faces a felony count of aggravated kidnapping and home invasion with a firearm, while Matthew Price, 27, of the 1600 block of S. Central Park Ave., has been similarly charged in addition to possessing a stolen vehicle.
The official press release from the Chicago Police Department states that Mobley and Weathers were arrested on July 23rd at 7:26 p.m. near S. Kedzie, while Price was taken into custody on July 24th at 12:02 a.m. on S. Central Park, police identified these suspects as the ones who unlawfully entered a home on the 4800 block of S. Michigan Ave. and took the young child, the victim was thankfully found safe some hours after the incident occurred.
The detention hearing for the accused is set to take place at the courthouse on 2600 S. California on July 26th, 2025. The Chicago Police Department has not released further details at this time. The community has been on edge since the event, but the prompt response by law enforcement to safely recover the child is a relief to the family and neighbors shaken by the crime.
