With a track record showcasing a stint in 33 games, starting in 22, not to mention his accolades as 2022 CFN Freshman All-America and Pac-12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year, it's no big surprise Barton's on this list the Cottonwood Heights native didn't just ride the bench last season, he launched into all 12 games, racked up 72 tackles, those 5.0 for loss, batted down six passes, snagging two interceptions, breaking up another four, and even scooped up a fumble recovery, numbers are simply part and parcel of his game.
The timeline for the prestigious Butkus Award is clearly on the docket, with semifinalists set to be announced on November 4, followed by the declaration of finalists on November 25, to be topped off the award's recipient will be brought into the limelight by December 10, as per the tradition and schedule maintained by the Butkus Foundation.
