
Early Saturday morning, residents of Greater Grand Crossing were rattled by a drive-by shooting that left one woman dead and man in a hospital. The incident occurred in the 7500 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue around 1 a.m., according to Chicago Sun-Times. Shots were fired from a passing vehicle, striking two people who were then found by responding officers.
A 37-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene. An a unidentified male was hit in the knee and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment. He was listed in fair condition, as CBS News Chicago reported.
Thus far, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and it remains an open investigation. Area 2 detectives are actively looking into the circumstances surrounding this violent act, seeking leads that might bring them closer to apprehending those responsible.
The investigation is ongoing, and Chicago police are calling for anyone with information to come forward.
