The city of Woodstock is drawing on the collective wisdom of its populace as it solicits feedback on its 2025 Comprehensive Transportation Plan. At a recent work session, Rob Hogan, retired City of Woodstock employee and current member of the Planning Commission, introduced a vision that straddles the fine line between optimizing vehicular and pedestrian avenues alike. The focus is clear: smart tech and clever design must coalesce to ease traffic while keeping the pedestrian-friendly vibes that have become a Woodstock hallmark, as per the city's official announcement.

In a recent presentation to the Mayor and Council, Hogan outlined an ambitious slate of 41 major road projects and 74 conceptual ventures still in the early planning stages. Among the highlights were the Brownlee Road Connection and the Haney Road Extension II—both central to the city's commitment to a grid street system designed to improve traffic flow and integration with existing infrastructure. These projects aim to enhance connectivity and ease daily commutes. Complementing these efforts is Woodstock's implementation of the Gridsmart system, which uses advanced lane detection and traffic analytics to support coordinated traffic signal planning and improve overall transportation efficiency.

Woodstock officials are encouraging residents, business owners, and visitors to voice their transportation priorities at an upcoming open house on Monday, July 28. Set to take place from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the Chambers at City Center, the event offers a space for community members to share ideas and insights that could shape the city’s transportation future. For those unable to attend in person, feedback can also be submitted online through a public input form available on the city’s website.
