A tragic incident unfolded in the North St. Louis neighborhood this past week when a 14-year-old girl was wounded by a gunshot to the arm. Law enforcement responded to the scene after being alerted to the shooting on the 5800 block of Cabanne Avenue around 5:00 p.m. on August 12.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department detailed that upon their arrival, officers found the teenager injured. In an attempt to stabilize her condition, officers applied a tourniquet to the arm. The girl was swiftly transported to a local hospital where she was reported to be in stable condition.
Subsequent to a preliminary investigation, it appears the wound was the result of an accidental discharge of a firearm by a 15-year-old boy. The police reported that the boy, at the time, was not cooperative with officers investigating the scene. Consequences for the incident led to the young teen being taken to Juvenile Detention. The investigation into the specifics of this matter is ongoing.
