
Chicago has seen yet another vehicular hijacking incident, this time involving a 19-year-old suspect. The Chicago Police Department, along with the Illinois State Police, apprehended Armahn Johnson of the 1100 block of W. 103rd Pl., Chicago, Illinois, following a carjacking involving a firearm. The incident took place on August 5, 2025, and led to a series of felony charges against the young man.
Arrested in the vicinity of the 0-100 block of W. Garfield Blvd., Johnson was identified by the victims, a 20-year-old male and a 47-year-old male, who, less than 45 minutes earlie,r reported their vehicle stolen at gunpoint in the 4000 block of N. Laramie Ave. According to the Chicago Police Department's news release, the detainee faces two felony counts of Vehicular Hijacking - Agg - Firearm, among other serious charges.
The case, now bound for a detention hearing, is set for tomorrow at the 2600 S. California court location. As per the charges detailed by law enforcement, Johnson additionally receives one felony count for IVC - Agg Fleeing/2+ Con Devices, one felony count for IVC Agg Fleeing/Police/21 MPH, and for Agg UPW/Person/Loaded/No Foid, another count for Agg UPW/Person/<21, and a misdemeanor for Resisting/Obstruction/PC Off/Corr Emp/Frfttr.
