Residents of Antioch were startled by the sound of gunfire late last night on Cobblestone Drive. Antioch Police Department responded to the calls around 11:45 p.m. and found a 27-year-old man who had been shot, as reported by Hoodline. Despite immediate medical attention, the unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Working the case are the Antioch Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigators and detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit, who are charged with piecing together the circumstances that led to the fatal incident. No arrests have been announced, and authorities are urging anyone knowledgeable about the incident to come forward. In a sequential development, a Vallejo address was searched by the Antioch Police as part of their investigation into the shooting. The search resulted in the collection of evidence pertinent to the case, and according to an update from Antioch Police Department's press release, the joint efforts of Vallejo and Stockton Police Departments have led to the arrest of 37-year-old Jesus Soto of Vallejo in connection with the homicide.
Soto was arrested yesterday without incident, and authorities were also able to gather evidence from a vehicle in which he was present at the time of his arrest.
