A fatal motorcycle collision claimed the life of an Antioch man late Friday night on Interstate 65, authorities report. Daryus Chambers, 37, was involved in a wreck with another motorcyclist by the exit for Briley Parkway around 10:45 p.m., according to FOX17. Chambers' bike reportedly made contact with a tractor-trailer, causing him to crash.
After hitting the tractor-trailer, the Metro Nashville Police Department indicates that Chambers was subsequently struck by an 18-year-old motorcyclist, who also lost control and crashed. Running over Chambers, the teenager sustained non-life-threatening injuries as reported by WSMV.
The scene was pronounced fatal for Chambers, while Metro Police attended to the other motorcyclist's injuries. According to WKRN, emergency services treated the 18-year-old motorcyclist and confirmed they would recover.
In the aftermath of the accident, the driver of the tractor-trailer was not located at the scene. Police speculate the driver was likely unaware of the collision, seeing as the tractor-trailer continued on its path without stopping, which was echoed in the statements obtained by all three local news sources.
