In an uplifting move for community engagement, officers from the Boston Police Department's District D-4 paid a surprise visit to Ramsay Park's SISRUN Basketball Program, delivering new athletic equipment to the delight of its young athletes. During the event, the officers presented the program with a collection of fresh pink basketballs, signalling a reinforced commitment to fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and community youth.
As the players took to the court, they were, according to the official Boston Police Department news release, "all smiles" as they tested out the new gear. The engagement went beyond just a handover of equipment; officers took time to shoot hoops with the players, a gesture that adds layers of community bonding. The surprise visit exemplifies the BPD's effort to create, and nurture safe and participatory spaces for kids to play and grow
