Residents in the Belmont Central and Dunning Districts have been put on high alert after a series of armed robberies were reported. These incidents occurred within the 16th (Jefferson Park) and the 25th (Grand Central) Districts. In an online community alert, the Chicago Police Department issued a warning regarding the two robberies which involved assailants using a small gray SUV as their getaway vehicle. As per the report, an armed individual alighted from the SUV, brandished a handgun, and demanded the victims' belongings before fleeing the scene.
The crimes described took place on the 2500 block of N. Central Ave. and the 6500 block of W. Irving Pk. Rd. The first incident occurred on August 15, 2025, at 6:53 p.m. in Belmont Central followed closely by a second robbery at 7:58 p.m. in Dunning. Authorities have been diligently working to quickly to ascertain information about the suspected perpetrators. According to the Chicago Police Department, one of the offenders is described as a Hispanic male, 18-22 years old, between 5'7" and 5'9" in height. The identity of the second offender still remains unknown.
In response to these robberies, the Chicago Police Department is urging the community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. They advise the public to remain constantly aware of their surroundings and to preserve any video surveillance footage that could serve as evidence. Furthermore, victims are advised to refrain from tampering with the crime scene and to contact the police directly without delay.
