The Chicago Police Department has announced another DUI Saturation Patrol, this time targeting the 4th (South Chicago) District, amid increasing efforts to curb impaired driving and promote traffic safety. Drivers should take heed as the operation is set to commence on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 6 p.m. and will continue until Saturday, August 30, at 2 a.m., according to official sources.

This initiative follows on the heels of a recent patrol conducted in the 10th (Ogden) District, which yielded a slew of citations for various offenses, including unsafe vehicle operation and insurance violations. Notably, that operation reported zero incidents of Driving Under the Influence. Officers are gearing up for a similar effort in the South Chicago area, with a focus on impaired drivers, as well as those committing speed, alcohol-related, and safety belt violations.

During these saturation patrols, police officers will patrol a specified area, actively monitoring for any signs of impaired driving or other traffic infractions. To support these efforts, vehicles equipped with speed detection technology will also be deployed to identify and stop speeding drivers before they can cause harm.

Furthermore, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may be present to process DUI charges on-site, thereby expediting the judicial procedures and potentially issuing Individual Recognizance Bonds. According to the recently published report on the Chicago Police Department's news release, the previous patrol in the Ogden district resulted in 83 total citations across a spectrum of violations, though there were no arrests for DUI.
