
The Chicago Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating a hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was struck and fatally injured in Gage Park. The incident, which happened in the early hours of August 9, involved a silver Toyota 4Runner that rammed into a pedestrian crossing at the 5400 block of S. Kedzie Ave., according to a community alert issued by the police. The driver then sped away from the scene, continuing north on Kedzie Avenue.
Witnesses last saw the offending vehicle, described as a 2014 - 2024 Silver Toyota 4Runner Limited, in the vicinity of Archer Ave. and Sacramento Ave. It is reported to possibly have sustained front-end damage, particularly on the front right side. The collision has left residents unsettled by the reckless disregard for human life.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the driver to come forward. The Chicago Police emphasize the community's role in apprehending the individual responsible for this tragic event.
