In a show of community support, the Colerain Township Police Department has once again made a mark with its involvement in the Northwest Local School District Health & Safety Fair. According to a social media post by the Colerain Police Department, officers gave away "HUNDREDS of backpacks" to local students, a gesture of goodwill backed by donations from a benevolent local business.
The backpacks, filled to the brim with supplies essential for academic rigor, were distributed during the fair, which took on the mantel of preparing students for the upcoming school year. "Stay tuned for our annual back-to-school high fives, and here’s to another great school year!" the post excitedly announced by the Colerain Police, capturing the optimism that seems to naturally accompany events of such nature.
These actions by the Colerain Police are part of a larger effort known as community policing, aiming to bridge gaps between law enforcement and the populations they serve. Acts like the backpack giveaway have tangible benefits for youths, providing both material necessities and fostering a sense of camaraderie from an early age.
