Residents in a Draper neighborhood found themselves without water for an extended period after a water line leak spurred an emergency shut-off. According to KUTV, the problem was first reported on Saturday morning near 11573 South and 700 West. Crews worked through the night to address the issue, but encountered "unexpected complications," which prolonged the outage.

The emergency water shut off, which began around 4:45 p.m. Friday, was initially expected to be resolved within 8 to 10 hours. However, FOX 13 reported that it extended into a second day, leaving residents in the affected area between 11400 South to 11800 South without water longer than anticipated. Patching of excavations on roads had been completed by the crews, with permanent paving scheduled pending weather conditions.

Draper City had informed residents to prepare for an all-day water shut off via a social media post. "We do not have a specific time estimate for restoring service," Draper City officials voiced on their post, urging residents to be prepared for the disruption, as relayed by ABC4, which also shared a map of the service area affected by the leak and subsequent shut-off.

Water service eventually resumed just after noon, as confirmed by Draper City. The areas disrupted by the excavation for repairs were either patched or covered with steel plates, ensuring a level of normalcy on the roads until permanent paving can be completed. While disruptions are never welcomed, the quick and effective response by the city's crew has helped mitigate what could have been an even longer inconvenience for the residents.
