In an effort to combat the persistent issue of drunken driving, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is joining forces nationwide on MADD's Saturation Saturday. The initiative, as described by El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte in a Facebook post, aims to amplify patrols and emphasize the dangers associated with impaired driving. "Our deputies are committed to keeping our roads safe by increasing patrols and raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving," Ugarte announced.
During this event, deputies, before they hit the streets, were joined by MADD Program Specialist Maria Schaffino, who came to offer her gratitude and provide motivational words. A special mention was given to Schaffino by the Sheriff's Office for taking the time to talk with graveyard shift deputies, as witnessed and shared in the social media post. This encounter, although brief, conveys the seriousness with which the Sheriff's Office is treating the initiative.
With the saturation patrols in action, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is sending a clear message to the public: drunk driving will not be tolerated.
