The teams were faced with overflowing areas and slippery entrances due to the sudden downpour, but they worked into the night to ensure spaces were safe and dry for the next day's learning.
Custodian Supervisor Daniel Navarrete, who has clocked in over three decades with El Paso ISD, saw the need to quickly adapt and get the job done. "It rained a lot last night in this part of town, so we wanted to make sure our schools didn’t have any issues like leaks or flooding," Navarrete said, as obtained by El Paso ISD News. The commitment showed, as the maintenance crew came in earlier than usual to thoroughly clean up before students set foot on the premises. Navarrete added that the dedication of his team stretches beyond the typical workday, saying, "We're always on a 24/7 schedule, and when we call them, they respond very quickly."
