An early morning disturbance in a local neighborhood led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man, identified by police as Eric Engrique Franco. A report from the Eugene Police Department, published August 16, detailed the events: a woman in her early 20s awoke to a hand reaching through her bedroom window, around 3:56 a.m. on August 16. The address, near E. 16th and Hilyard, soon became the site of an unexpected confrontation.
Prompted by the woman's call, officers were dispatched to the scene. Lurking near the front, they encountered Franco, discovered shuffling at some bushes adjacent to the residence. Despite holding what appeared to be a sharp object, the suspect retreated after being confronted by an officer - visibly recognizing the authority he faced, he backed off without further incident and was taken into custody.
The subsequent search revealed Franco was in possession of an exacto knife and a luchador mask. He was transported to a local hospital for a medical issue, prior to being lodged at Lane County Jail. His charges include Burglary in the First Degree and Menacing, bearing the case number 25-13272.
