Investigators from the Oregon State Police are currently handling a grim murder-suicide case in Josephine County, following the tragic discovery at a residence in the Picket Creek area. On Monday, law enforcement officers arrived at a home on Hussey Lane after concerns were raised about an adult female who had failed to arrive at work that day, which was described as highly uncharacteristic.
Upon arriving at the property, deputies and state police noted signs that merited concern and made the decision to enter the house. Inside, they found a horrific scene: five people, including children, shot dead. Identified among the deceased were Hannah Marie Behee, 42, two male juveniles aged 11 and 9, a female juvenile aged 7, and the adult male suspect, Chad Scott Behee, 40, according to a statement obtained by FlashAlert.
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office has, in turn, handed the reins of the investigation over to the Oregon State Police, with support from the Grants Pass Police Department. While the investigation is still unfolding, preliminary information points towards a tragic conclusion in which the deceased male is believed to have perpetrated the shootings before taking his own life.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and help piece together the events that led to this tragedy. The Oregon State Police have released a contact number, 800-442-0776 and also encourage reaching out through *OSP (*677), making sure to reference case number SP25-366471.
