Early this morning, a house fire in Wilton Manors required the attention of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, with three people, including a child, managing to escape unharmed. The incident, occurring on NE 27 Street near NE 17 Terrace, was called in just before 6 a.m., as reported by CBS News Miami. Firefighters faced flames on the side of the home connected to the electrical power, with the fire reaching the attic, further challenging their efforts to subdue it.
Officials report that the fire's spread to the home's attic was a significant obstacle and that an hour and a half delay in shutting down the power to the home added to the complications. According to Local 10 News, "The fire extended into the home's attic, complicating efforts to extinguish it." Firefighting teams persisted, and just after 8 a.m., the fire was successfully extinguished.
Meanwhile, as the home sustained considerable damage, the displaced family now faces the task of finding temporary housing. The Red Cross has been contacted to provide the necessary assistance for the family during this period. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
