A Fort Lauderdale man has been charged with attempted murder after two people were stabbed early Friday morning, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department reported. The incident happened at a home near Southwest 32nd Court and 15th Avenue. A male victim, who ran to a neighbor’s house for help, is expected to recover, while a female victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
According to Local10, the suspect, 34-year-old Jose Monier, has a history of domestic violence charges from 2013 and 2016.
Police said that when officers arrived, Monier fought with them and was later arrested. He faces multiple charges, including battery on a police officer, WSVN reported.
Local10 also noted that neighbors identified the victims as Monier’s mother and stepfather, though police have not confirmed the relationships.
Police spokeswoman Casey Liening said the case remains under investigation. Monier appeared in court Saturday and was ordered held without bond. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
