In the wake of the Monroe Canyon Fire, Garkane Energy established a noteworthy track record for efficiency by replacing a dozen scorched power poles in a single day. According to ABC4, work commenced early Wednesday morning, soon after the utility deactivated the main transmission line, and by day's end, Garkane Energy declared the task complete.
The power outages that could have darkened homes and stifled businesses in south-central Utah and parts of Arizona were diminished, thanks to the foresight of activating six generators, this substitution kept the electricity flowing while crews labored to restore the pillars of the grid, as outlined in a report from Deseret News, the company informed the public of their plan a day before the operation, aiming to minimize inconvenience for its customers.
While Garkane Energy initially applied temporary fixes to the damages sustained by the wildfire, the replacement of the power poles marks a shift to long-term stability for the affected power network, primarily servicing Wayne County, just southeast of the 65,000-acre wildfire zone. FOX13 shared the company’s assurance that "the power will be better than before," signaling an improvement over the pre-disaster infrastructure, with the generators now being phased out and systems reverting to the rejuvenated main line source.
