The Nashville police are carrying out an investigation following the discovery of a decaying, headless body near 3300 Dickerson Pike. The authorities were alerted to the presence of the corpse early yesterday morning, based on details from the department’s Computer-Aided Dispatch log, as reported by The Tennessean.
According to spokesperson Brooke Reese, a woman came across the skeletal remains tucked away in the woods just behind a Dickerson Pike restaurant, WKRN details. Not far from the initial site, the police later located a skull, roughly 100 yards away, challenging investigators to ascertain the duration the body had been there given its state of decomposition.
"It’s pretty gory. That’s crazy. I don’t even know what to say," expressed Tom Keesee, when he learned of the grisly discovery, in a statement obtained by WSMV. Keesee, who works nearby, voiced his concern over the incident, underlining that while urban areas are not strangers to crime, the grotesqueness of a decapitated body is a rare and alarming event.
The area where the body was found, sandwiched between popular fast-food outlets McDonald’s and a Waffle House, is now a focal point of the police investigation as they seek clues to unravel the identity of the deceased and the circumstances that led to such a fate. Authorities are continuing with their inquiries, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing case.
