Early this morning, a West Little River neighborhood was disrupted by a confrontation that turned violent as a gunman pistol-whipped and fired shots at two individuals. The incident, which unfolded around 7:30 a.m. near Northwest 28th Avenue and 90th Street, involved a "verbal altercation" before escalating to physical violence, NBC Miami reports.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO), the altercation became heated when the gunman brought out a firearm and struck one of the victims on the head with the weapon. The situation further spiraled as the armed individual fled, shooting towards the victims in the process. Fortunately, no one was hit by the gunfire, and the assailant then entered a car and drove off in an undetermined direction, as stated by officials.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the incident, treating one victim at the scene for injuries sustained from the pistol-whipping. The authorities have not yet provided a description of the gunman as the ongoing investigation is handed over to the MDSO's General Investigations Unit (GIU), according to Local 10 News.
While the immediate threat has passed, the perpetrator remains at large, with MDSO continuing to piece together the details of this crime. Anyone with information is urged to contact the appropriate authorities.
