On the morning of August 17, smoke and flames reported at a second-story apartment prompted a rapid response from emergency services, with Engine 3 and Truck 3 arriving on scene at 8:58 a.m., just four minutes after the initial call. The urgency of the situation was clear as heavy smoke billowed from the building's upper windows.
According to an official report by PF&R, a firefighter ascended a ladder to the smoke-engulfed second floor at 9:01 a.m. Inside, the firefighter found an individual unconscious at the threshold of the hallway. By 9:04 a.m., in an incredible display of teamwork, the victim was brought to the window and lowered to safety by members of Truck 3.
Ground teams provided immediate critical medical assessments and initiated care, deciding to transport the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital due to the ambulance's distance and the patient's critical state. This decision likely played a pivotal role in the positive outcome, as the quick transport allowed the patient to receive the necessary medical attention without delay. Later, the patient was transferred to a specialized burn unit for further treatment.
