A man and a young child were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday night in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood. According to FOX32 Chicago, the 24-year-old man and the 4-year-old boy were crossing in a crosswalk when they were hit by a westbound car in the 2700 block of West Peterson Avenue around 9:40 p.m.
After the collision, the driver reportedly exited the vehicle and proceeded to quickly run away from the scene. The injured man was transported to St. Francis Hospital, while the child was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital. Both are listed in fair condition, a term suggesting stability and a lack of life-threatening injuries. As of now, police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident, with Area Three detectives continuing to look into the case, ABC7 Chicago reports.
Details on the suspect or the involved vehicle have been scant, though it has been described by authorities as a gray-colored car. There has been a call for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation and hopefully bring some closure to the abruptly interrupted lives of those injured.
