A dispute in a Liberty City boxing gym escalated into violence last night, leading to one man being shot and another detained by police. Local 10 News reported that the incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. at a gym located in the 4900 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue, where witnesses said an argument broke out just before the shooting. Children were present at the time of the altercation.

First responders transported the male victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. A Miami Police Department spokesperson described the victim as "alert and stable" after the incident. According to WSVN 7News, the shooting followed a dispute that began amongst spectators while two people were boxing. The subject, related to one of the boxers, reportedly fired a gun approximately five times following the argument.

After the shooting, the alleged gunman along with other spectators fled the scene. The subject then called 911 himself. Police held him at gunpoint, a moment captured on cellphone video, before detaining him. The man remained in a police cruiser for some time as detectives questioned him prior to being transported to the police department.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of either the victim or the detained individual. The ongoing investigation has left the victim in critical but stable condition, officials told reporters.
