A Margate man has been arrested and is facing charges related to child sexual abuse materials and bestiality found online. On Tuesday, authorities charged 23-year-old Anthony William Serralles after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) sparked an investigation. NCMEC was alerted by Dropbox that Serralles uploaded a total of 36 illicit images in March 2024 and this January.
Margate Police Department detectives, supported by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at Serralles' home located on Parkside Lane. They proceeded to arrest him at a shopping center in Coral Springs. According to local news outlet Local10, the search unearthed not only the flagged images but also "numerous videos of (himself) engaging in sexual acts". Serralles made a confession when confronted with the evidence, and detectives have collected several of his electronic devices for a full file extraction.
On Wednesday, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Serralles was being held in the BSO Main Jail with a bond set at $17,500. His mugshot and arrest details were posted on Instagram, confirming the date of his arrest yesterday and including the charges against him: possession/control/view depiction of child sex conduct and compile, enter, etc., computer pornography re minor. Both charges were listed with the status pending trial. mugshots.broward's Instagram also noted Serralles's physical characteristics, reinforcing he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
While the legal system is yet to fully hold Serralles to account, the allegations themselves paint a grim picture, disturbingly highlighting the dangers lurking in the shadows of the online world, and threatening to permanently to tarnish the affected neighborhoods repute.
