If you've ever considered a career in public safety, there's an event coming up that could be your gateway. The Medford Police Department (MPD), together with a host of local agencies including the Medford Fire Department (MFD), Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO), Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3), Mercy Flights (MFI), and Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO), are hosting a unique recruitment event designed to showcase the various public safety roles available within the community.
Slated for Friday, September 26th from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM, according to the City of Medford's official announcement, attendees will get an up-close look at the demands and rewards of public safety work. There will be interactive presentations every 45 minutes, where prospective candidates can pick the sessions that interest them the most and gain real insights into what the testing process, hiring requirements, and agency cultures are like.
The event offers a chance for attendees to meet and engage directly with law enforcement officers, firefighters, corrections staff, dispatchers, and medical responders. Not only does the setting provide a rare opportunity for aspirants to ask questions in a relaxed environment, but it also extends a warm welcome to their spouses. Providing food and drinks, the organizers are ensuring that the event not only informs but also creates an inviting atmosphere.
Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, the recruitment event at the ETHOS Training Center in Phoenix, OR, will cover a range of careers. The schedule includes talks on police and fire department careers, paths in corrections, tips for acing public safety interviews, and snapshots of a day in the life of dispatchers and medical responders. The City of Medford's notice indicates that signs will guide visitors to the classroom located at the back of the ETHOS property, with parking options delineated for their convenience.
