A recent arrest has cast a grim light on a violent incident in the Whitehaven area. The Memphis Police Department apprehended 38-year-old Nichlous Greenwood, who stands accused of a heinous act against a woman in her own home. According to Action News 5, Greenwood has been charged with aggravated rape, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary, following an alleged incident on August 5.
Early in the morning of the attack, the victim reported she was woken by a man looming over her, brandishing a firearm and demanding money. It was said that, after informing the suspect she had no money, the man proceeded to forcibly rape her. The woman was later obligated to descend to the lower level of her residence, where she managed to give Greenwood three dollars from her purse before he fled, as informed by FOX13 Memphis.
Following the incident, the woman was taken to a sexual assault resource center, where evidence was collected for a rape kit. After nearly a day of intensive investigation, Greenwood became a person of interest and was later picked out from a six-photo lineup by the victim. His previous criminal history comes to light, with arrests concerning allegations of robbery, burglary, and kidnapping since April of the same year, but the charges were dismissed due to a lack of prosecution, as detailed by WREG News.
Currently, Greenwood is incarcerated on a $250,000 bond, with a court date set for tomorrow. His photo was not immediately made available following the arrest.
