An upcoming event titled “MDEAT Day” is scheduled for August 21, organized by the Miami-Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board (BAAB). The gathering is intended to highlight Black entrepreneurship and support economic development within the community. According to a Miami-Dade County press release, the event will take place at the Stephen P. Clark Center from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., providing attendees an opportunity to engage in initiatives centered on economic advancement and community engagement.
MDEAT Day will offer a range of activities that combine professional development with cultural representation. Attendees can expect access to procurement opportunities, financial wellness resources, and personal branding support, including professional headshot services. Alongside these offerings, local food vendors and food trucks will be present, contributing to the event’s community-centered atmosphere through local flavors and music. The event aims to bring together ambition and practical resources in a setting reflective of the community’s energy and diversity.
Significant to this gathering is BAAB's efforts as outlined in their "2024-2025 World Guide," an extensive directory of entities encapsulating the African-American presence in Miami-Dade County, further accentuating the community's rich tapestry of cultural, civic, and economic frameworks. This invaluable resource is now accessible in PDF format, supporting the intention to distribute knowledge and foster connectivity within the local demographic, as per the press release.
Aligned with its commitment to inclusivity, Miami-Dade County is committed to making the event accessible to all individuals, regardless of disability. To support full participation, accommodations such as sign language interpreters and CART services will be available upon request.
For more information, including how to request materials in accessible formats or details on participating in the event, the public is encouraged to contact BAAB Program Officer Retha Boone-Fye via email or phone, or follow the Board across their social media channels.
