Miami-Dade County deputies are on the lookout for a suspect linked to a heinous crime in a Paseos community residence. During the evening of last Friday, around 6:40 p.m., an intruder invaded the privacy and safety of a young girl by entering her bedroom and attempting to commit a sexual assault, according to a report from Local 10.
The victim was at home in her bedroom, located at Northeast 208th Street and Fifth Place when she was startled awake by an unknown individual trying to remove her shorts. "She struck him in the groin and started screaming," as noted in the statement released by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, described as a Black male believed to be between 15 and 19 years of age with a thin build, escaped through the window after the attack was thwarted by the child's defensive actions, as detailed by Local 10.
Further details shared by WSVN indicate that the young victim of this attempted sexual assault is only 12 years old. She displayed remarkable courage, striking the assailant to fend off his unwelcome advances before he fled the scene. Authorities are urging the public to help catch the unidentified perpetrator, heightening their pleas for any information that might lead to an arrest and ensure community safety, "Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Special Victims Deputy A. Huarte or Sgt. J. Valdivia at (305) 715-3300."
Additionally, Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is available for anonymous tips at (305) 471-TIPS (8477). The suspect's last seen attire was a black long-sleeve shirt paired with light-colored or gray pants, along with a white ski mask that obscured his face. Information leading to the capture and prosecution of the subject could not only bring justice to this case but also potentially prevent further crimes.
