Miami-Dade County District 12 homeowners with limited means are about to receive a boost in the form of exterior home makeovers, thanks to a new initiative spearheaded by Commissioner Juan Carlos "JC" Bermudez. The Home Beautification Program is launching with the aim of offering grants up to $8,000 to help eligible homeowners spruce up their properties with exterior painting and landscaping improvements. This grant program is a partnership effort with the Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD), as detailed by the county's official website.
According to an announcement by Commissioner Bermudez, the objective is clear: "Neighborhood pride begins at home." He further states, "By helping residents improve the exterior of their properties, we’re not just enhancing curb appeal—we’re investing in the quality of life for families and strengthening the character of our communities." By offering financial assistance, the program aims to not only to beautify the district but also to cultivate a sense of pride among its residents.
To qualify for the Home Beautification Program, homeowners must be the owner-occupants of a single-family detached home within District 12, must not own any other investment properties, and must meet specific income limits. For instance, a two-person household is eligible if its income does not exceed $72,650, while a four-person household's limit is set at $90,800.
Those interested are encouraged to pick up applications in person at the Office of Commissioner Juan Carlos "JC" Bermudez, with the deadline for completed submissions by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5. For more details, residents can call 305-599-1200. As the Commissioner elucidates, the goal is to beautify District 12, one home at a time.
