A duo suspected of conducting a series of armed robberies, specifically targeting patrons adorned with luxury watches after leaving Miami-Dade nightclubs, has been apprehended, as per law enforcement. Miami Beach Police apprehended Dwight Gustave, 30, and Andria Banks, 41, yesterday, according to NBC Miami. The two face charges related to multiple armed robberies in the Miami Beach area and one in Miami itself.
These incidents involved the accused following victims from nightclubs and subsequently robbing them at gunpoint. A particularly notable instance involved the theft of an Audemars Piguet Skeleton timepiece, estimated at $60,000. The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Miami Beach and City of Miami Police Departments, along with the Miami-Dade and Broward sheriff's offices.
Gustave and Banks were linked to three robberies in Miami Beach and another in Miami, with surveillance footage providing evidence of their alleged involvement. During a search of Gustave's home, officers discovered over $176,000 worth of stolen goods, which included luxury watches and a significant sum of cash, as detailed by WSVN. Apparel and a ski mask matching those seen in the surveillance during the robberies were also recovered from Gustave's residence.
Both suspects have previous criminal histories pertaining to robberies and high-end thefts. "This successful investigation highlights the vigilance and professionalism of our detectives, and we are deeply grateful to the City of Miami Police Department and the Miami-Dade and Broward Sheriff’s Offices for their outstanding partnership," Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones told NBC Miami.
