A tragic incident on Nolensville Pike has taken the life of a motorcyclist after a late Tuesday collision with a Chrysler SUV. The crash occurred in the 2800 block, according to a report from the Nashville government's official website. Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the motorcycle, a 2014 CFMoto 650, was heading north when it collided with the rear driver's side door of the Chrysler Aspen that had just exited a gas station.
The force of the impact ejected both the unidentified male motorcyclist and his passenger, Mariana Maldonado-Vergara, 19, from the bike. They were rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where the man succumbed to his injuries. Maldonado-Vergara, on the other hand, remains in critical condition as medical personnel strive to stabilize her. The report from the Nashville government confirmed that there was no evidence of impairment from either driver involved in the fatal incident.
The ongoing investigation by local authorities points to excessive speed as a preliminary contributing factor to the deadly accident. The statement released didn’t cite any other potential causes or assign blame at this early juncture. The process of formally identifying the deceased male rider is still underway, as officials work to bring closure to this unfortunate event.
