Chaos erupted on Interstate 95 near Ives Dairy Road last night when a tractor-trailer failed to brake amid congested traffic, triggering a significant multi-vehicle accident. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the collision involved a total of 18 vehicles and resulted in more than two dozen injuries. The crash led to an extensive road closure that stifled the flow of nighttime traffic for close to seven grueling hours, as confirmed by WSVN.
A witness described the scene to WSVN with vivid immediacy, recounting the tangled mess of metal and the urgency that enveloped the area: “Oh my God that’s a really bad accident, like cars all piled-up. It’s all mangled. I had to stop and take another quick look. Pay attention to the road people, pay attention to the road, especially at night.”
First responders transported the injured to Aventura Hospital, where they received care for what were described as minor injuries. Meanwhile, investigative teams worked diligently at the site of the crash, gathering evidence and documenting the carnage that had unfolded on the asphalt. As a result of a fuel leak caused by the incident, traffic was redirected onto Ives Dairy Road, a detour that lasted until the early hours of this morning.
